BT Cesul has served for 20+ years as defense intelligence analyst and team leader in space and counterspace systems engineering. Currently, Dr. Cesul holds the position of Sr Director of Capture for Umbra Space. He has previously worked as a Space Systems Engineer and Principal Intelligence Analyst for multiple entities within the National Security Space community, including at the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio. Dr. Cesul was responsible for supervising the production of national level threat assessments used by DoD and DNI space acquisition customers, as well as overseeing the production of intelligence analysis products on foreign counterspace weapon systems for all USG customer sets, supporting space warfare educational activity at USAF Weapons School, National Space Security Institute and Defense Intelligence University. Dr. Cesul has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s of Engineering degree in Space Systems from the University of Michigan. He earned his PhD in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology. Dr. Cesul has or held part time academic appointments at The Ohio State University, Penn State, AFIT and Lake Superior State University. He is a member of the AIAA, AICHE, Mars Society, and served on the University of Michigan College of Engineering Michigan Engineering Alumni Board (MEAB).
