After 25 years in the Air Force Research Lab, Dr. Tom Cooley is applying his acquired knowledge of space technology and the USSF serving as the President, TC Space Consulting, LLC. He held several senior positions while at AFRL including Chief Scientist, Space Vehicles Directorate, Senior Scientist for Space Situational Awareness, Principal Scientists responsible for leading the AFRL In-space Servicing, Assembly & Manufacturing, Chief Scientist SpaceWERX, Chair of DoD(R&E) Space Community of Interest, Program manager and Principal Investigator for TacSat-3/ARTEMIS mission.
Dr. Cooley began his career at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in 1988 following his receipt of a BS from Rensselaer and now holds an MS from Caltech and PhD from Optical Sciences Center, University of Arizona. He joined AFRL in 1998 and has contributed to a wide range of technologies focused on Electro-Optic sensors, imaging spectroscopy from space, and most recently In-Space Servicing, Assembly and Manufacturing (ISAM) technologies. Dr. Cooley has published over 70 papers in national and international journals or conferences and has been recognized as with numerous awards including AFRL and SPIE Fellow.
