Amy Hopkins began her career as a civil servant on the staff of the late Senator William V. Roth Jr. as a legislative assistant for national security policy. She transitioned to the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), where she held multiple positions in support of global Combatant Commanders and deployed across the globe in support of military and intelligence operations. Ms. Hopkins also served as the U.S. Pacific Command Chief for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Plans, Policy, and Strategy responsible for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR). She led collection operational planning and execution, policy, programmatic, architecture and future collection operations. She was subsequently selected as the Special Assistant to the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (VCJCS) where she was responsible for managing all high priority classified acquisition, intelligence, operational, and legislative efforts. She completed her civil servant career as a Professional Staff Member for the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) where she was responsible for authorization of the General Defense Intelligence Program (GDIP) and Military Intelligence Program (MIP) budgets.

Following her time as a civil servant, Ms. Hopkins shifted her career to the defense and aerospace industry. She initially led the strategic modeling and analysis for the Northrop Grumman Corporation. She subsequently became the Director of the Virtual Warfare Center for Phantom Works at Boeing Defense. Ms. Hopkins has also served as Vice President and General Manager of Capella Space Federal, leading all facets of the business and operating a constellation of small satellites providing easy access to earth imaging information. Ms. Hopkins culminated her defense industry career as the Vice President and General Manager of Peraton’s National Security Space business unit. Her business unit focused on developing and delivering solutions for multiple high value, high demand missions and organizations within the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense.

Ms. Hopkins also supported the most recent National Defense Strategy Commission. She played a pivotal role in supporting the bipartisan Commission tasked with evaluating the National Defense Strategy (NDS). Her work involved providing strategic insights and detailed analyses across a range of national defense issues, including force posture, operational concepts, military risk assessments, global force readiness and intelligence. She worked directly with Commissioners to shape recommendations for the effective implementation of the NDS. Her efforts were instrumental in ensuring that the NDS remains aligned with U.S. strategic objectives, focusing on countering emerging global threats and maintaining U.S. leadership in defense capabilities.

Ms. Hopkins holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Old Dominion University, a Master of Arts in National Security Policy Studies from George Washington University, and an Executive Business Certificate from The Darden School of Business. Her major awards include the Joint Meritorious Civilian Service Award, Joint Civilian Service Commendation Award, and the Civilian Combat Support Medal.
